Joana ajamiah

Joana Ajamiah is the founder and creative director of Aromaise, a studio devoted to sensory design, fragrance, and thoughtfully crafted experiences. With over eight years of experience in styling and creative direction, her work is grounded in the belief that the most memorable moments are built through intention, atmosphere, and the details people feel rather than notice at first glance.

Her creative foundation was shaped through formal study in Visual Culture and Communication with a focus in Information Technology at the University of Toronto, where she developed a systems driven approach to visual storytelling. This balance between structure and emotion continues to inform her ability to design experiences that are both seamless and deeply expressive. She later expanded her academic perspective abroad at the University of Oxford, where her studies in media and cultural theory refined her understanding of narrative, perception, and how meaning is constructed through environment and ritual.

A pivotal chapter of Joana’s creative journey came through living in Morocco, where she was immersed in the traditions of fragrance, natural oils, and daily ritual. There, scent was not decorative but essential. It marked time, memory, hospitality, and identity. This experience reshaped her relationship with fragrance, not as a product, but as a language, one capable of holding emotion long after a moment has passed. It is this philosophy that became the foundation of Aromaise.

Her work was further shaped in London through studies under contemporary artists such as Isaac Julien, where she refined her visual discipline and conceptual clarity. Working at the intersection of art, media, and experience reinforced her belief that restraint, pacing, and intention are what give design its emotional weight.

Today, through Aromaise, Joana brings these influences together to create custom fragrance bars, keepsakes, and sensory moments for weddings, private celebrations, and brands. Each project is approached with care, clarity, and a calm, collaborative process, guiding clients from initial idea to a finished experience that feels personal, elevated, and effortless. Her work is defined by thoughtful detail, cultural depth, and an understanding that the most powerful design is often the quietest.

Aromaise exists to create moments that linger. Experiences that are felt, remembered, and carried forward long after the room has emptied.
